Thousands of residents of Kobani canton in northern Syria are protesting against Turkey’s construction of a wall along their joint border. In an interview with Sputnik Kobani canton’s deputy head Enver Müslim condemned the construction as an attempt by Turkey to annex Syrian territory.
“If the Turks were building this wall on their side of the border, it wouldn’t concern us, but they are trying to build it here in Kobani. Our people will never let this happen. Turkey is against the federative system we have here, that’s why it is helping the Free Syrian Army and other radical groups,” Enver Müslim said. He added that Ankara decided to build the wall in Kobani after the failure of its military operation in Jarablus
