The Cabinet has approved the plan of the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment to enhance the role of administrative units and their local councils in crises at all levels.
This came during the Cabinet’s session on Sunday chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis.
The Council called on Governors to develop a flexible plan for strengthening the role of administrative units in time and out of crisis.
It also called on all ministries to present initiatives and develop working mechanisms to keep pace with the changes and strengthen the citizens’ steadfastness under the economic sanctions imposed on Syria.
The Council approved the executive program of economic, cultural, tourism and educational cooperation agreements recently inked in Damascus between Syria and Iran, calling on the ministries concerned to prepare weekly reports on progress in the implementation of any agreement and to submit them to the cabinet.
